The Principal with the Principal talking shop!
Meghan with Edmundo Gamarra, the principal of St Angela Merici. The school has students in PreK to Secondary (11th grade) and has about 425 students and 26 teachers (the government pays for 10 of the teachers). Most of the students come from the neighborhood immediately around the school. Laws are in place to support education for all but rural education and services to the poor don’t compare to privileged and urban areas.
Students love to have photo taken!
It’s week two of the school year and Back to School Parent meeting is tonight. They are amazed with our iPads!

Hospital San Jose
Access to healthcare and medical services has improved greatly in the past few years in Peru since the government had made free and available healthcare a priority. Inequities still exist. We visited this hospital and probably over 200 people were waiting in lines to be seen. Most arrived as early as 6:00 am to get in line.
